Although our primary mandate is the governance and safe oversight of recreational scuba diving<\/strong>, we also promote and support the development of other emerging underwater activities<\/strong> across Qu\u00e9bec, such as freediving<\/strong>, underwater hockey<\/strong>, underwater rugby<\/strong> and snorkeling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

These activities all have one thing in common: the opportunity to discover a unique underwater world through enjoyment, a sense of community and the safe practice of recreational activities.<\/p>\n

Freediving<\/strong> allows you to explore the underwater world<\/strong> with minimal equipment<\/strong> while offering a unique sensation of weightlessness<\/strong> and freedom of movement<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both relaxing<\/strong> and invigorating<\/strong>, this activity combines the benefits of swimming<\/strong> and meditation<\/strong>. It requires self-control<\/strong>, body awareness and consistency, while allowing you to progress at your own pace<\/strong> and better understand your limits<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Accessible to everyone<\/strong>, freediving does not require you to be an experienced athlete to get started. With regular practice, it helps improve flexibility<\/strong>, endurance<\/strong>, fluidity<\/strong> of movement and cardiovascular fitness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Underwater hockey<\/strong> is a dynamic activity that remains relatively unknown, yet it is played by clubs across Canada and in more than 30 countries<\/strong>. Played entirely underwater, it offers a unique experience<\/strong> where all the action takes place beneath the surface.<\/p>\n

Invented in England in 1954<\/strong> by Alan Blake, the sport was created as a way to stay fit during the winter months<\/strong>. Initially played informally, it gradually evolved into a structured and modern activity. In Qu\u00e9bec, it was introduced several decades ago through local initiatives.<\/p>\n

Played in a swimming pool (2 to 3 metres deep), two teams of six players<\/strong> compete to push a puck<\/strong> along the bottom of the pool into the opposing team’s goal. Equipped with fins<\/strong>, a mask<\/strong>, a snorkel<\/strong> and a stick<\/strong>, players compete while holding their breath, alternating between periods of play and surfacing to breathe. Matches consist of two 15-minute halves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Accessible to everyone<\/strong>, underwater hockey can be played from a young age and helps develop cardiovascular fitness. You do not need to stay underwater for long periods to enjoy the game and improve your skills<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
